Waupun Man Facing Multiple Charges Following Domestic Incident

(Waupun) A Waupun man is facing numerous charges after a domestic incident. The city’s police department responded to a physical domestic disturbance at a residence on East Franklin Street around 11:55pm on Wednesday.

The male suspect had left the scene prior to law enforcement arrival and was reported at a residence on North Division Street. When police arrived, they learned that the man had again fled the area and later returned back to the original address on East Franklin Street.

The suspect refused to comply with requests to exit the home and Waupun police called in support from the Fond du Lac County SWAT Team. During negotiations, two residents were able to exit the residence safely. The 31-year-old suspect later exited the home and was taken into custody at approximately 5:26am Thursday morning.

Charges of False Imprisonment, Battery, Suffocation and Strangulation, Domestic Related Disorderly Conduct, and Resisting an Officer are being referred to the Fond du Lac County District Attorney’s Office. Authorities say this was an isolated incident and there is no danger to the community.
