Patriot Tour To Hold Flag Transfer Ceremony In Beaver Dam

(Beaver Dam) The Patriot Tour will be returning to Beaver Dam this week. The nonprofit Nation of Patriots, which is based in Beaver Dam, will host a flag transfer ceremony on Friday and Saturday, with events planned for both days. The summer-long fundraiser for veterans sees multiple motorcycle riders carry one American flag, city-to-city, through all 50 states.

Local Organizer Brad Weber says Beaver Dam residents should be ready to welcome the flag around 4pm Friday. He says the flag will arrive to Beaver Dam off of Highway 151 to Madison Street, down Front Street, through the downtown, to North Spring Street, then Beichl Avenue, and finally the Beaver Dam American Legion.

Beaver Damโ€™s flag bearer Tim Fletcher will receive the flag at 5pm. Weber says a welcome ceremony will follow at the American Legion with guest speakers and a number of other activities. He says there will be vendors, food trucks, music, and raffles โ€“ all which will benefit the Patriot Tour as well as the American Legion.

Registration begins at 9am on September 10th for the escort leaving Beaver Dam which will head for House of Harley in Greenfield, where the flag will be transferred to a new flag bearer. There will be coffee and donuts and a brief ceremony prior to departure.

Weber says all money raised goes to help veterans in need. He says the monetary support is handed out in grants that can go towards paying off debt, food, clothes, school supplies, as well as putting a roof over families heads.

Nearly $2-million-dollars has been raised through this grassroots effort since the Nation of Patriotsโ€™ inception in 2009.
