Jobless Filings In Region, State Decrease From August To September

(Dodge County) Jobless filings throughout Wisconsin decreased or stayed the same last month compared to August but were all higher than last year at the same time. According to figures released by the state Department of Workforce Development, Dodge County reported a 2.6-percent unemployment rate in September, down three-tenths from the previous month but up six-tenths from last year. Washington County posted similar numbers. Columbia County was at 2.5-percent, down a half-percentage point from August but up a half-percent from last year. Fond du Lac and Jefferson counties were both at 2.7-percent in September; a decrease from August of three-tenths for Jefferson and six-tenths for Fond du Lac. Green Lake County was down four-tenths over the two-month period to 3.1-percent. Lafayette County had the lowest rate in the state at 2.1-percent while Menominee County had the highest at 9.3-percent. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Wisconsin last month was up one-tenths from August to 3.2-percent, which is three-tenths below the national rate.
