Iron Ridge Fire Department Responds To Structure Fire

(Iron Ridge) The Iron Ridge Fire Department is reminding the public to properly dispose of smoking materials following a structure fire. The agency was dispatched to Highland Avenue around 4:30pm Tuesday.

Upon arrival, all occupants and a pet were located outside of the building. Firefighters also observed smoke coming from the roofline and an active fire in the exterior of the house.

A hose line was deployed and crews began removing soffit from the structure to gain access to the fire which had extended into the roof. Additional fire departments arrived on scene and the blaze was extinguished. One resident of the home was taken to a hospital for minor burns and smoke inhalation. Officials say the structure is not considered a total loss, though extensive restoration work will need to take place.

Shortly after the initial page for the structure fire came in, first responders received a call for a potential wildland fire. Units from the Neosho and Hustisford Fire Department were diverted to investigate the report and confirmed an unreported controlled burn.
