Waupun Fire Department Participates In Training At Rock River Intermediate School

(Waupun) The Waupun Fire Department recently participated in a training that simulated a fire in a garage at Rock River Intermediate School. Firefighters worked on establishing a water supply by hooking up to a hydrant, deploying fire attack lines, pumping, and aerial operations.

“So, it was a great opportunity for us to be able to practice which hydrants we are going to use, what our vehicle setup looks like, where our line is going,โ€ says Waupun Fire Chief B.J. DeMaa. โ€œHow are we going to basically distribute our workforce once we are there to be able to handle the emergency?โ€

DeMaa appreciates the community for allowing emergency crews to do training at public buildings.

โ€œSo, those real-world opportunities, buildings that we could be responding to in the community,โ€ DeMaa says. โ€œItโ€™s priceless to have those relationships where we have got the chance to actually be able to set up there and practice.โ€

The crews also simulated a mayday scenario where a firefighter got separated from their crew.
