(Horicon) The Horicon Elementary School was nationally recognized yesterday (Monday). The school received the National Blue Ribbon Schools Award for 2024. The recognition highlights schools that excel in academic performance or make significant strides in closing achievement gaps among different student groups.
Horicon School District Superintendent Rich Appel says it is quite an honor.ย
โAnd itโs wonderful to have our staff [and] students be recognized for all their hard workโฆthey really work hard every day to try and do whatโs best for kids and to try help them learn best in whichever way that it takes for them to do that,โ says Appel. โIโm just proud of them for being recognized because I see it dailyโฆa lot of folks come to work every day and work really hard, but they donโt always get recognized like this.โ
A total of 356 schools were recognized as the 2024 cohort of National Blue Ribbon Schools. Appel notes that Horicon Elementary was one of eight schools in Wisconsin that received this designation.
