(Columbia County) The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is holding a public involvement meeting to cover a resurfacing project in Columbia County. Officials with the department say work includes making improvements to approximately .67-miles of Highway 33 and extends from the Wisconsin River to Highway 16 in Portage.
The project will consist of removing and replacing the pavement, adding a left turn on eastbound 33 at Pierce Street, and updating curb ramps. Construction is currently scheduled for 2028. The meeting is scheduled for this Wednesday, February 28th, from 4:30pm to 6:30pm in the Bidwell Room at the Portage Public Library.
Transportation officials say the objective of this meeting is to familiarize the public with the purpose and need for the project as well as obtain input on the proposed improvements. Adjacent property owners are encouraged to attend.
