Dodge County Sheriff Discusses Dangers Of Drinking And Driving

(Juneau) Dodge County authorities would like to remind motorists about the dangers of operating a vehicle while intoxicated this holiday season. Sheriff Dale Schmidt says he sees too many fatal accidents or people getting hurt.

โ€œThey donโ€™t really recognize that theyโ€™re not just putting themselves in harmโ€™s way, or the people that are in their car, but itโ€™s everybody else on the highway,โ€ says Schmidt.

Schmidt says the department has a zero-tolerance policy.

โ€œIf youโ€™ve been drinking and your ability to drive is impaired, you are going to be arrested and taken into jail,โ€ Schmidt says. โ€œ[The] holidays are coming up, thereโ€™s going to be parties, find a designated driver.โ€

The sheriff says there is no excuse now when people can easily find someone to drive them home.ย ย
