(Juneau) Dodge County authorities would like to remind motorists about the dangers of operating a vehicle while intoxicated this holiday season. Sheriff Dale Schmidt says he sees too many fatal accidents or people getting hurt.
“They don’t really recognize that they’re not just putting themselves in harm’s way, or the people that are in their car, but it’s everybody else on the highway,” says Schmidt.
Schmidt says the department has a zero-tolerance policy.
“If you’ve been drinking and your ability to drive is impaired, you are going to be arrested and taken into jail,” Schmidt says. “[The] holidays are coming up, there’s going to be parties, find a designated driver.”
The sheriff says there is no excuse now when people can easily find someone to drive them home.
