Dodge County Homebuilding Saw Slight Uptick Over Last Year Numbers

(Dodge County) Year-to-date homebuilding in Dodge County saw a slight uptick over last year. According to the Wisconsin Builders Association, there were 96 single-family housing permits pulled between January and June. There were 86 in 2021, a difference of 11.6-percent.

Dodge County’s home construction in quarter two did not fair nearly as well when compared to its numbers last year. There were only 49 permits between April and June this year, compared to 62 in 2021, a drop of 21-percent.

Year-to-date single-family housing permits in Columbia County dropped from 58 last year to 53 this year, a decrease of 8.6-percent.

Fond du Lac County jumped from 76 permits through the first six months of 2021 to 90 in 2022, an increase of 18.4-percent.

Jefferson Countyโ€™s permits decreased over 43-percent from 145 through June of last year to 82 this year.

Statewide, permits pulled dropped to just under 11-percent during the same time period last year. That number is slightly above the 11.2-percent decrease across the Midwest. Officials attribute the decline to skyrocketing mortgage rates and high inflation.
