Dodge County Extension Office Offers Cost Saving Ideas Amid Rising Food Costs

(Beaver Dam) The holidays are fast approaching, and many Wisconsin families are feeling the impact of rising food costs. The rise in cost coincides with the decrease in household income due to the COVID pandemic.

Pattie Carroll, a UW-Extension Dodge County Human Development and Relationships Educator encourages people to try some strategies to minimize the impact of these rising costs.

One strategy is planning meals ahead. This encourages shoppers to buy the items they need and minimize unplanned, high cost purchases. Another strategy is considering frozen or canned food. When buying fruits and vegetables, people can consider whether they can save money by getting canned or frozen instead of fresh.
