(Juneau) The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is among the agencies participating in the annual Click It Or Ticket campaign that got underway Monday and runs through Sunday, July 5. Wisconsin’s current seat belt use rate is 90.2 percent-the highest ever. State Department of Transportation officials say of all the car and light truck occupants killed in Wisconsin traffic crashes last year, 44–percent were not wearing a seat belt. Dodge County Sheriff’s Sergeant Jermey Wolfe says despite advances in vehicle technologies, wearing a seat belt remains the most important and effective step motorists can take to prevent being injured or killed in a traffic crash. Failure to fasten a seat belt is among the most common traffic violations in Wisconsin and resulted in 41,654 traffic conviction last year.
