Beaver Dam Area Orchestra Performing This Saturday

(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Area Orchestra will be having their fall concert this weekend. The orchestra is community-oriented that began performing in 1954 under the direction of Glenn Wood. Director Erin Ebersole says concertgoers can expect music that is inspirational and evokes strong emotions.

โ€œThereโ€™s a couple of classics,โ€ says Ebersole. โ€œSo, the โ€˜Fingalโ€™s Cave Overtureโ€™ by [Felix] Mendelssohn is inspired by his trip to northern Scotland, and the coast, and the ocean, and, you know, the big waves, and just a great time that Mendelssohn had in that area. He could not use words to describe what he saw.โ€

Other featured pieces include the suite from โ€œThe Band of Brothersโ€ miniseries and โ€œThe Battle Hymn of the Republic.โ€ The performance will also include an oboe solo. Ebersole says people should attend the concert this weekend because the orchestra will be playing music that is inspired and inspiring.

โ€œI think youโ€™re going to feel some very deep emotions that music can really get to,โ€ Ebersole says. โ€œYou can hear music that is played by professional orchestras, youโ€™ll hear music, some of the songs in our programs are played by pros, but you get to see and hear your friends and neighbors play it.โ€

The Beaver Dam Area Orchestra Fall Concert is Saturday November 18th at 7pm in the Beaver Dam High School Auditorium. Admission is free and doors open at 6:30pm.
