(Herman) Cash bond was set at $50,000 Monday for a man incarcerated at the Dodge County jail charged with burglarizing a residence in Herman. Doty Broadnax, whose most recent address is in Beaver Dam, is facing a felony charge of Burglary as a Repeat Offender. On September 30th, a relative of the property owner visited the residence on Highway 33 and reported seeing a male attempting to load a snowblower into a black pickup truck. The truck speed off and was later pulled over by authorities in Washington County. Broadnax was arrested along with a second individual who was a passenger in the vehicle. When questioned, Broadnax denied he was at the property to burglarize it but reportedly admitted he was there to check out a car. According to the criminal complaint, numerous power tools and equipment from the property were confiscated from the pickup truck. Broadnax is also facing two misdemeanor Theft charges for allegedly taking scrap parts from Countryside GM in Beaver Dam in October. If convicted on all charges, the 55-year-old faces 14 years in prison. However, since all charges carry a repeater enhancer Broadnaxโs maximum term could increase by eight years. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 27.
