(Wisconsin) Wisconsin health officials say they are hopeful the newest COVID booster shots will improve the state’s vaccination numbers. Almost 62-percent of Wisconsin residents have received the initial coronavirus vaccine series, but only 35-percent have received at least one booster shot.
The newest shots rolling out in September are designed to be effective against the latest omicron variants of the virus. The latest shot will become available soon across Wisconsin.
In Dodge County, 52.9-percent of residents have received at least one dose of the vaccine while 50.8-percent have completed the vaccination series. Just over 28-percent have gotten an additional booster dose. Each one of those figures trail our surrounding counties either by one or multiple percentage points.
According to the state health department, Dodge County is in the low COVID category for community levels. Fond du Lac, Jefferson, Columbia, and Green Lake counties are also in the low level while Washington County is the medium category.
