West Allis Man Given Jail Time For Failing To Stop For Waupun Police

(Waupun) A West Allis man was sentenced to three months in jail for failing to stop for Waupun police. Samuel Vasquez entered a no contest plea to a reduced misdemeanor charge of Resisting – Failure to Stop as well as two misdemeanor drug charges.

Last December, a Waupun officer spotted a vehicle near South State Street with a busted headlamp. According to the criminal complaint, police noticed an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle as they approached. When asked to search the car, Vasquez said he could not give permission because it was not his. As the officer attempted to open the driver side door Vasquez drove away. A pursuit that lasted just under a mile ensued.

He eventually stopped at a dead end on Pluim Drive and apologized, saying that he (quote) “had no reason to run.” A search of the vehicle turned up several drug paraphernalia. The 26-year-old was also placed on probation for two years.
