Waupun School District To Hold Referendum Info Sessions

(Waupun) The Waupun School District will hold the first of many informational sessions leading up to April’s operations referendum on Thursday.  Last month the Waupun School District Board approved a resolution to pursue a $900,000 operational referendum for the April ballot. This would begin in the 2025-2026 school year and end in 2027-2028.  The initial drop-in session will be held tomorrow from 11:15am to 12:15pm at the Waupun Community Center at 520 McKinley Street.

School officials say the referendum is designed to support Waupun Area School District students by maintaining strong educational programming, keeping class sizes low, attracting and maintaining high quality staff, and funding building maintenance. They note that since November of 2022, the district has been committed to utilizing approved funding efficiently to achieve its mission.

The district adds that this referendum aims to sustain that progress and secure resources critical to student success. In the coming months, the Waupun School District will host multiple community informational sessions to provide details about the proposed plan, answer questions, and encourage feedback.

The first formal presentation about the referendum is set for 1:30pm on Friday, February 28th at the Waupun Community Center.
