Waupun Fire Department Receives Fire Education Grant

(Waupun) The Waupun Fire Department has received grant funds from one of the world’s largest commercial property insurers. Representatives from FM Global presented Chief B.J. DeMaa and Assisting Chief Mike Beer with $2,160 which will be used to assist fire prevention activities in the community in an effort to help educate the community and reduce fires. FM Global Vice President Michael Spaziani says his company strongly believes the majority of property damage is preventable not inevitable and that the financial support given allows grant recipients to actively help improve property risk in the communities they serve. For the past 40 years FM Global has contributed millions of dollars in fire prevention grants to fire service organizations around the globe. The Fire Prevention Grant is awarded to fire departments as well as national, state, regional, local and community organizations worldwide that best display a need for funds that have the most impact on preventing fires or the mitigating damages it can cause.
