Waupun-area home damaged after fire spreads from burning process

TOWN OF WAUPUN — Firefighters say no one was hurt after a fire damaged the outside of a home Saturday afternoon in the Town of Waupun.

According to a Waupun Fire & Rescue Department release published by Waupun Pioneer, crews were called at 12:34 p.m. Saturday, May 30, to N4134 West Center Road for a reported house fire. Firefighters arrived to find homeowners working to put out a fire on the back side of the home.

Crews opened exterior walls, put out hot spots and checked for fire extension. Firefighters remained on scene for about an hour. The department said there were no civilian or firefighter injuries. Initial damage estimates were not available, but damage was largely limited to the home’s exterior. The department said the fire was caused by extension from a burning process earlier in the day.

Brandon-Fairwater Fire Department, Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department, Lifestar EMS and the Fond du Lac County Communications Center assisted at the scene.
