(Watertown) The Watertown Police Department is inviting the community to sign up for active shooter training. The agency is conducting two Run, Hide, Fight trainings next week.
Officials from the department say anyone from the community is welcome to attend. They add that the training provides essential strategies to respond effectively during an active shooter situation.
Participants will learn how to quickly decide whether to run to safety, hide from the threat, or fight back if necessary. The presentation is geared towards adults and will discuss emotionally charged topics. Juveniles under 18-years-of-age should be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
The first training is taking place next Tuesday, October 22nd, at the Watertown Library Community Room from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. The second training is next Saturday, October 26th, from 9am to 12 noon at Madison College located at 1300 West Main Street in Watertown.
Those interested in attending are encouraged to email Deb Gerstner at dgerstner@watertownwi.gov and must include the names of those signing up and the training date you are going to. For additional questions call Assistant Chief Ben Olsen at 920-206-4206 or email bolsen@watertownwi.gov.
