Volunteers Sought For Nitschke Mounds Care Day On Sunday

(Burnett) Volunteers are being sought to help cleanup Nitschke Mounds. Organizer Kurt Sampson says the Nitschke Mounds County Park Care Day is Sunday (11/17) from 9am until 3pm. Goals for this first cleanup of the season are to burn remaining debris piles around the site; assess the vegetation that has regrown since last winter; cut trees off mounds; and continue to care for the mound site along the north fence line. Volunteers are asked to dress for the weather conditions and for working in the woods, which means sturdy footwear and a good pair of work gloves. Those who are skilled in using chainsaws or other powered cutting tools are encouraged to bring them. The park is located on County Road E in Burnett, three miles west of Horicon and just east of the Wild Goose State Trail.
