Unemployment Numbers Drop in October Report

(Dodge County) Jobless claims in the region saw a slight decline in the month of October. The state Department of Workforce Development says the unemployment rate in Dodge County was 2.4-percent in the tenth month of 2022 which is down from the 2.8-percent figure the county saw in September. Last year, the number was 2.1-percent. Dodge County improved three spots in the statewide unemployment ranking to 11th. Columbia County saw a drop as well with their jobless numbers at 2.5-percent. Their figure last year was 2.3-percent. Jefferson County’s jobless numbers also saw a decrease from September to October at 2.5-percent. In 2021, their rate was 2.4-percent. Fond du Lac County reported a four-tenth of a percent drop in their unemployment numbers, going from 2.8-percent in September to 2.4-percent in October. A year ago, the number was 2.2-percent. Statewide jobless numbers in September were 3.3-percent which is four-tenths of a percent lower than the national average.
