(Portage) There are two new K9 cops on the beat in Columbia County. Sheriff Roger Brandner says two deputies received a five-week handler training at Jessiffany Kennels in Iron Ridge and were certified this past weekend. K9 Artus has been assigned to Deputy Derek Jesko. The two have been assigned to patrol duties on day shift. Artus is certified in drug scent, tracking, patrol, and article searches. K9 Jax has been assigned to Deputy Travis Lange. The two have been assigned to patrol duties on the night shift. K9 Jax is certified in drug scent, tracking, patrol, and article searches. The two K9 teams join Deputy Jordan Haueter and K9 Mattis on the force. Sheriff Brandner thanked supporters who attended fundraising events and made donations, along with the Columbia County Board.
