Supervisors Briefed on Dodge County’s Public Safety Radio System

(JUNEAU) Dodge County public safety officials are one step closer to improving the way they communicate with one another. A firm called TUSA Consulting presented its findings from a study into the problems plaguing the countyโ€™s public safety radio system to Dodge County Board Tuesday night.ย ย

TUSA CEO Dean Hart says following discussions with local leaders and an online survey, a number of issues were highlighted. Mainly reliable coverage.

โ€œWhen you look at your radio system and you spend moneyโ€ฆyouโ€™re purchasing coverage,โ€ says Hart. โ€œThe tower sites, the generators, the sheltersโ€ฆall that other stuff is to support that coverage need.โ€

Other identified problems include audio quality and struggles to communicate with surrounding agencies. A committee made up of public safety officials and Dodge County supervisors will be meeting in September to discuss next steps.
