(JUNEAU) Dodge County public safety officials are one step closer to improving the way they communicate with one another. A firm called TUSA Consulting presented its findings from a study into the problems plaguing the county’s public safety radio system to Dodge County Board Tuesday night.
TUSA CEO Dean Hart says following discussions with local leaders and an online survey, a number of issues were highlighted. Mainly reliable coverage.
“When you look at your radio system and you spend money…you’re purchasing coverage,” says Hart. “The tower sites, the generators, the shelters…all that other stuff is to support that coverage need.”
Other identified problems include audio quality and struggles to communicate with surrounding agencies. A committee made up of public safety officials and Dodge County supervisors will be meeting in September to discuss next steps.
