Social Security Going Paperless

(JUNEAU) Social Security will stop sending out paper checks at the end of September. About 500,000 beneficiaries will have to choose another way to get their monthly payments. Amanda Higgins with the Dodge County Aging and Disability Resource Center says no one will lose their benefits.

“There’s just going to be a delay or some extra steps; some more difficulty to getting those benefits either electronically into a bank account or for people who don’t have a bank account, it’s called a Direct Express card,” said Higgins.

Higgins recommends that people still getting paper checks contact the nearest Social Security field office in Fond du Lac or Waukesha.
