Second To Last Badger Honor Flight Of The Year Is Tuesday

(Beaver Dam) The second to last flight of the year that takes veteran’s to Washington DC is Tuesday. The Badger Honor Flight is part of a national honor flight system throughout the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii.  

Once the flight lands, the veterans will spend the day in Washington DC touring various sites including Arlington National Cemetery, the Lincoln Memorial, the Iwo Jima, World War II, Korean, and Vietnam monuments, as well as the Pentagon and 9/11 memorials. 

Organizer Jim Bublitz says the flights are usually held on Saturday’s but there are times when they do not have a say in the matter.    

Bublitz also shares how people can get signed up for an Honor Flight.

“Badgerhonorflight.org has a website. There is a bar on top and you click on veteran and there is an application,” he says.

Organizers encourage the public to head out to the Dane County Regional Airport to welcome the veterans home. They say you should arrive at the airport around 7pm, the flight will arrive shortly after.
