(Watertown) The Watertown Fire Department responded to a shed fire housing equipment and machinery at Rivers Bend RV Resort late Tuesday night. Investigators say the cause of the fire originated from hot coals that were discarded in a dumpster near the shed.
The fire spread rapidly and as a result, the shed itself and all its contents were destroyed. Cost estimates for the building are $250,000 dollars in damages and $550,000 dollars in damages for the equipment and other contents.
The Watertown Fire Department urges everyone to follow some basic steps to ensure something like this doesnโt happen including letting the coals cool down, using dedicated disposal containers, and soaking coals with water.
