Regional Jobless Numbers Increase In January

(Dodge County) Regional jobless claims increased in the first month of 2025.  

The state Department of Workforce Development says the unemployment rate in Dodge County was 3.1-percent in January, a seven-tenths of percent jump from December. Last year, the number was 2.6-percent. Dodge County also fell four spots in the statewide unemployment ranking to 12th.  

Fond du Lac Countyโ€™s December unemployment was 2.6-percent, in January it was 3.3-percent. Last year, the rate was 2.5-percent.  

Columbia Countyโ€™s month-to-month jobless numbers went from 2.5-percent to 3.3-percent. A year ago, the figure was 2.7-percent.  

Jefferson Countyโ€™s unemployment rate saw an eight-tenths of a percent increase, going to 3.3-percent in January. The number in 2024 was 2.7-percent.  

Statewide, the unemployment rate was 3.2-percent and the number of unemployed people in January was 101,000.
