(Dodge County) Jobless claims in the region saw an uptick in the month of January.
The state Department of Workforce Development says the unemployment rate in Dodge County was 2.8-percent in the first month of 2022, up from the 1.9-percent logged in December. Last year the figure was 4.1-percent. Dodge County was ranked 16th in Wisconsin for unemployment rates, a drop of four spots from where the county was in December.
Fond du Lac County saw their unemployment number increase by nearly one-percent from 1.8 in December to 2.7 in January. In 2021, the figure was 4.1-percent.
Columbia County did record a percentage jump from two in December to three in January. A year ago, the county reported a rate of 4.6-percent.
Jefferson County saw the exact same change in unemployment numbers as Columbia County. Their 2021 rate was 4.3-percent.
Statewide jobless numbers were three-percent in January.
