Reeseville Man Sentenced To Eight Years In Prison For Assaulting Minor

(Emmet) A Reeseville man guilty of assaulting a minor was sentenced to eight years in prison Monday. Marcus Statz entered a no contest plea to a felony count of Second Degree Sexual Assault of a Child in November. Two additional felony charges were dismissed but read into the record.

Authorities with the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office were assigned to investigate a reported sexual assault that occurred at a farm in the Town of Emmet between October and January of 2020.

Statz assaulted the 15-year-old victim on multiple occasions and sent suggestive messages through Facebook. When questioned, the 48-year-old admitted to his actions and said he was crossing the line.

At sentencing, Assistant District Attorney Jin H Pack said the victim will have to deal with the echoes of this crime and the injury caused to her. He says his hope for the legacy of this case is strength found for her.

Statz was also placed on extended supervision for eight years.
