Public Can Vote For BD Water Tower In Nationwide Contest

(Beaver Dam) Beaver Dam’s newly painted water tower is up for national recognition. The city’s tower is in the running to be named Tank of the Year. Organized since 2006 by Tnemec, Tank of the Year celebrates the innovative and creative uses of their coatings on water tanks throughout the U.S. and Canada.

During a two-week public voting period, the community is given the opportunity to vote for their favorite tank which is named the People’s Choice. A Tnemec committee of water tank enthusiasts choose 11 other finalists and considers them, along with the People’s Choice, to decide the official Tank of the Year.

Voting for the People’s Choice closes this Friday at 5pm and the announcement is made on October 16th. Tank of the Year will be revealed on October 20th.

Over the summer, four coats were applied to Beaver Dam’s water tower: three coats on the interior, and two coats on the legs. On one side of the tower is painted Beaver Dam’s logo featuring two orange half circles on top representing the sun while the bottom has three blue waves representing water. In the center: the silhouette of a kayaker holding a paddle.

On the other side, the logo was altered to feature a fisherman.
