(Beaver Dam) Food truck operators in the city of Beaver Dam would need to obtain a permit to operate in the city, under changes to the municipal code recently discussed in committee. Food trucks would have to obtain a $50 permit, have a kitchen less than 365 square feet with a fire extinguisher and operate no fewer than 12 days per year. The ordinance does not impact mobile kitchens at festivals like Lake Days or brat fry stands at local grocery stores. The ordinance does not address food matters, that is governed by state health officials. The city attorney is making changes to the ordinance suggested by elected officials and the committee will revisit the matter at their next meeting.
