The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash that happened Friday evening in the Town of Watertown.
According to a June 1 press release from Jefferson County Sheriff Travis Maze, deputies were called at 7:03 p.m. May 30 after receiving an iPhone crash notification in the N8300 block of Little Coffee Road.
Deputies found a single vehicle that had left the roadway and came to rest in a creek. Two occupants were found outside the vehicle, and one occupant was still inside, according to the sheriff’s office. All three had serious injuries.
Emergency medical crews responded to the scene. Two occupants were taken by ambulance, and one was transported by Med Flight to Aurora Summit Hospital for treatment.
The sheriff’s office says the preliminary investigation shows the vehicle was traveling north on Little Coffee Road when it failed to negotiate a curve, left the road, struck a ditch and came to rest in a creek.
A passenger from the vehicle was later pronounced dead at Aurora Summit Hospital.
The Watertown Fire Department and EMS, Johnson Creek Fire Department and EMS, Med Flight and the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Investigation Team.
