Oshkosh Union Rejects New Contract

Union members at Oshkosh Corporation have strongly rejected a new contract offer. A reported 85 percent of United Auto Workers Local 578 members voted no on the offer. The company offer included an eight percent wage hike over five years and a two thousand dollar signing bonus. But, workers would pay significantly more for their health insurance coverage and the deal would have allowed Oshkosh Corporation to hire some temporary workers. A company spokesman says the union has requested a meeting. A spokesman for the union says it hopes it doesn’t have to go on strike.
