(Beaver Dam) Beaver Dam School District officials are commending the staff of Wilson Elementary as the facility will be transitioning into a host site for childcare. The district has teamed up with Community Care to repurpose the building into a facility for childcare services.
Next fall, students who currently reside in the Wilson boundary will attend Washington Elementary. At that time, the current Wilson space – located at 405 West 3rd Street – will be operated by Community Care.
Beaver Dam School District Superintendent Mark DiStefano says he is “proud” of the Wilson staff.
“They’ve really done a great job of making sure that this last year has been really…really special for kids and they’ve been all in on everything that they’ve done…couldn’t be more proud,” says DiStefano. “Just making very concerted efforts to make sure that those kids have every experience possible that they could have as elementary students and with a smaller group…this year, just under 70 kids at Wilson Elementary in its last season.”
DiStefano notes that the building will still serve the community as a host site for 4K programming.
An open house at Wilson Elementary is planned for May 17th from 10am to noon. DeStefano says the public is encouraged to stop by, tour the facility, and see what the elementary school has meant to the community since it was constructed in 1964.
