(Fond du Lac) On Wednesday November 6th, 2024 at approximately 11:27AM Deputies with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a residence in the Town of Calumet for a check welfare complaint. Deputies attempted contact at the residence and discovered 70 dogs in various stages of health. All the dogs were safely removed from the residence and turned over to Eastshore Humane Association in Chilton, where they will receive the necessary care and attention to improve their well-being. The investigation remains ongoing.
(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Common Council approved a resolution to establish a Watermark Community Center Fund. The fund is in association with the Beaver Dam Area Community Foundation Family of Funds. The money the fund generates will go towards capital improvement, technology purchases and upgrades, facility upgrades and maintenance, and event support at the city owned community center.
(Beaver Dam) Beaver Dam High School’s production of Les Misérables premiered last night and continues through the weekend. The show begins at 7:30pm both tonight and tomorrow night, with Sunday’s matinee scheduled for 2:00pm. Tickets costs $12 for adults and $9 for students and seniors. (Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Police Department is reminding motorists about winter parking and the rules they must follow. Lieutenant Jeremiah Johnson says people must have a parking permit between November 1st and April 1st to be able to park on the street. The application is $25 dollars and there is an application process to make sure the applicants have a good reason for parking. He adds that there is a limit to how many people can park on the street. (Dodge County) The Dodge County Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) Local Board, coordinated by United Way of Dodge County, recently announced the availability of federal funds to support local nonprofit and government organizations providing emergency food, shelter, rent/mortgage and utility assistance. Eligible agencies include nonprofit, faith-based, and government organizations operating within Dodge County, with services focused on emergency assistance. The deadline to apply is November 13th. (Columbus) Amtrak’s newest train, Borealis, which made its inaugural trip in May and makes a local stop has surpassed 100,000 passengers. The state-sponsored train service doubled passenger rail options connecting Wisconsin communities to the Twin Cities and Chicago. On its route from St. Paul, Minnesota to Chicago, Illinois, Borealis serves eight Wisconsin train stations including Columbus and Portage.
