(Juneau) The Dodge County Board adopted its 2024 budget at their meeting Tuesday. The mill rate of $3.57 per thousand-dollars of assessed value is down 39-cents from the current budget year, while county property values are up 12-percent to $9.6-billion-dollars. The $173.9-million-dollar document includes a tax levy of $36.5-million, which is up roughly $525-thousand-dollars from 2023.
(Beaver Dam) The city of Beaver Dam has committed a portion of its American Rescue Plan Act dollars to revitalize its pickleball courts. The effort is in partnership with a dedicated group of local citizens as well as the Beaver Dam Area Community Foundation to upgrade the current Athletic Field courts into a top-notch outdoor regional pickleball facility to host tournaments and community gatherings. The city has committed $200,000 in ARPA dollars which local volunteers hope to match and exceed those funds to achieve their vision. The pickleball courts are at their end of life and inadequate for current demand.
(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Area Orchestra will be having their fall concert on Saturday November 18th at 7pm in the Beaver Dam High School Auditorium. Director Erin Ebersole says concert goers can expect to hear some classics including the “Fingal’s Cave Overture” by Felix Mendelssohn, the suite from “The Band of Brothers” miniseries and “The Battle Hymn of the Republic.” She adds that folks should come see the show because they will get to see and hear music played by professional orchestras being played by their friends and neighbors. Admission is free and doors open at 6:30pm.
(Hubbard) Cash bond has been set at $10,000 for an Iron Ridge man charged with his 8th Offense Operating While Under the Influence. Dennis Grosenick was allegedly under the influence when deputies were called to the town of Hubbard on November 11th. Grosenick’s vehicle was reportedly parked in the middle of the road and the 71-year-old had slurred speech. Authorities say when they searched the vehicle, they found an open bottle of liquor that was three-quarters full. If convicted, Grosenick faces up to 12 years in prison. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 22nd.
(Reeseville) An aggressive bull that was on the loose in Dodge County has been rounded up. A 400 pound bull described by authorities as a dangerous, not friendly, aggressive animal that will charge at you had Reeseville area residents on edge beginning Friday afternoon, when the massive mammal went missing from the Milwaukee Stockyards. A much-anticipated update came Monday night from the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office when they reported the bull was located and is “no longer a threat.” They added that they thank the community for their assistance during the incident.
