(Juneau) A pedestrian was injured after being hit by a pickup truck in the city of Juneau Tuesday morning. The 42-year-old walker was struck by the vehicle as it was turning left onto Fairfield Avenue from Highway 26 around 5:44am. The pedestrian was taken to the Beaver Dam hospital with injuries, the 55-year-old woman driver was uninjured. The crash remains under investigation.

(Waukesha) Attorneys representing the Waukesha Christmas Parade suspect say they will not be ready for an October trial date. Darrell Brooks Jr. is facing over 80 felonies stemming from last yearโ€™s tragic incident. Defense attorneys say they cannot be ready by October 3rd given the volume of evidence they will have to review. Brooks Jr. is accused of killing six people, including a former Beaver Dam educator, and injuring dozens more. โ€“ WRN

(Fond du Lac) A weeklong jury trial has been scheduled for a Fond du Lac man suspected of intentionally hitting and killing a motorcyclist. Daniel Navarro allegedly used his fatherโ€™s pickup truck to strike 55-year-old Phillip Thiessen of Fond du Lac in July of 2020. Navarro reportedly told investigators that he was harassed by white co-workers because he was Mexican. The trial is slated to begin on August 2nd.

(Fox Lake) Two candidates with a long history of municipal government experience are vying for a seat on the Dodge County Board representing the Fox Lake-area. Incumbent Ed Benter is seeking his fourth term on the county board, and also has served several terms on the Fox Lake Town Board, including a stint as chairman from 1995 to 2003. Challenger John Small is seeking his first term on the Dodge County Board but has served five terms on the Marathon County Board and seven terms as the president of the Village of Marathon. (Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Chamber of Commerce is hosting a candidateโ€™s debate Wednesday evening featuring candidates for school board and county supervisor. There are five candidates vying for four open seats on the Beaver Dam school board. There are 12 contested races on the Dodge County Board; tonightโ€™s forum features three of those seats in the city and township. The format of the program allows for questions from the audience. The forum runs 7pm to 8:30pm in the Veteranโ€™s Center and will be broadcast live on WBEV with video streamed at DailyDodge.com.

(Fond du Lac) Tributes have poured in after the death of Fond du Lac County Executive Al Buechel over the weekend. County Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt says Buechel was a true public servant who loved his family, the citizens he served, and was a friend and advocate of public safety. State Senator Joan Ballweg says Buechel had an impact beyond the county. Board Chairman Marty Farrell will serve as acting county executive until the board can appoint one. The governor has also ordered all flags to be flown at half-staff in honor of Buechel. He was 74-years-old.
