(Fond du Lac County) Fond du Lac County authorities arrested a Michigan man yesterday (Thursday) for driving the wrong way while drunk on I-41. The 61-year-old from Manistee was four times the legal limit while he drove northbound in the southbound lanes of I-41 from the Dodge/Fond du Lac County line around 2am. He eventually stopped after crashing into a squad car that was positioned to slow down his vehicle. The Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating. There were no injuries reported.

(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Police Departmentโ€™s new mental health officer is already making an impact in the community. The position was created to better focus on the mental health of the people the agency serves. Officer Karalyn Dehn was tapped to fill the role. A worker with the Dodge County Human Services Crises Center recently contacted Dehn to report a person at the Beaver Dam hospital was struggling with a mental health crises. Dehn says she talked with the individual to see what they needed and conducted a risk assessment. She says she was able to rely important information back to the Crises Center and develop a safety plan that was appropriate for that person.

(Portage) The Portage Police Department has arrested two people on numerous drug-related charges. The Department says after a lengthy and ongoing investigation into illegal drug activity in the city, police arrested two individuals Wednesday. Thirty-eight-year-old Loyal Stowers and 52-year-old Becki Wachendorf, both of Portage, are facing charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession with Intent to Deliver Meth within 1,000-feet of a School, Resisting Arrest, and Carrying a Concealed Weapon. Both are currently incarcerated at the Columbia County Jail.

(Waupun) A fundraiser will be held this weekend for a 22-year-old college student from Waupun who is in need of a new kidney. Eric Warnke is diagnosed with end stage kidney failure. The fundraiser will be held tomorrow (Saturday) between 4pm and 8pm at the Thirsty Beaver in Beaver Dam. The event includes a hot dog cart, silent auctions, and a 50/50 raffle. (Juneau) The Dodge County Treasurerโ€™s Office is encouraging residents to get their second installment tax payments in early. County Treasurer Patty Hilker says beat the heat and summer tax payment lines by paying them now. Citizens can pay by mail, at the countyโ€™s Administration Building in Juneau, or website or by calling 800-272-9829 with the jurisdiction code #5936. (Wisconsin) As the nation grapples with gun violence, weโ€™re being asked to Wear Orange this weekend. Gun Violence Awareness Day, the first Friday in June, marks the start of Wear Orange Weekend. Dane County Wear Orange hosts a rally and march from Villager Mall to Penn Park on Madisonโ€™s South Side, beginning at 6pm. Milwaukeeโ€™s drive through memorial to gun violence victims and survivors is in place Saturday and Sunday. โ€“ WRN
