(Beaver Dam) The Nancy’s Notions retail store in Beaver Dam is closing. CEO Kristi Tacony-Humes cited the fate of other brick and mortar retail stores in a statement saying the company (quote) “has continued to face increasing competitive pressures over the past several years.” Tacony-Humes says the decision was difficult but necessary for their long-term, direct-to-consumer strategy. Nancy’s Notions was founded by Nancy Zieman in Beaver Dam four decades ago and was acquired by Tacony Corporation of Missouri in 2003.  Zieman passed away a year-and-a-half ago. Her annual expo every May brought thousands to Beaver Dam year-after-year; the expo was not held this year. The final day for business at the retail store is July 31.
