(Columbus) Bond was set at $10-million-dollars for the man accused in the Independence Day shooting death of a Columbus business owner. In the early morning hours of July 4th, police say 22-year-old Jonathan Luna shot and killed 42-year-old Jose’ Fuentes-Hernandez in downtown Columbus. Hernandez owned Tequila’s Bar and Grill. A criminal complaint says the two had a brief fight at a bar. Luna went to his apartment and got his gun and reportedly returned to the bar where he waited for Hernandez to leave. Once outside, Hernandez was shot. โ WRN
(Beaver Dam) A Beaver Dam man is facing multiple charges following a pursuit with police on the Fourth of July. Jahir Pelayo allegedly fled police following a road rage incident. He eventually stopped while heading north on Highway A. A firearm was reportedly discarded into a field when Pelayo fled a short distance on foot. If convicted, the 20-year-old faces 18-and-a-half-years in prison. Cash bond was set at $5,000 during his initial appearance in court and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 1st.
(Waupun) SSM Healthโs long-term care center in Waupun will see new ownership. The healthcare provider recently announced plans to transition ownership of three Wisconsin-based long-term care centers to Complete Care. Pending regulatory approvals, Complete Care will assume ownership of SSM Healthโs Christian Home and Rehabilitation Center in Waupun, along with facilities in Baraboo and Madison. SSM Health will continue to own and operate the St. Frances Home Community in Fond du Lac and Villa Rose in Mt. Calvary.
(Beaver Dam) Mandi Genord, a Beaver Dam native, has won the Miss Wisconsin crown and is heading for the Miss America stage. The Miss America Organization is the largest provider of scholarship assistance to young women across the country, and Genord is the latest recipient.
(Fall River) The public is encouraged to sign up for a cornhole tournament fundraiser in Fox Lake that will benefit a foundation for Angelman Syndrome. Payslieโs Pals Third Annual Cornhole Tournament is happening next Saturday (July 20th) at Fall River Village Park starting at 12pm. Proceeds will go towards FAST, a leading patient advocacy organization working to cure Angelman Syndrome. The registration fee is $20 per person or $40 per team. Organizers say pre-registration is required and the deadline is July 18th.
(Beaver Dam) The Pull returns to the Dodge County Fairgrounds this weekend. The Pull Dodge County Series sees modified machines from all over the region put to the test as they battle it out on the track, pulling heavy slides and defying limits. The Pull Dodge County Series is taking places Saturday (July 13th) at 6pm.
