(Horicon) A recent report shows that the Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center contributes more than $8-million-dollars to the local economy. The report is the result of the Office of Outdoor Recreationโ€™s Do-It-Yourself Economic Impact Report program, an innovative pilot program to assist outdoor stakeholders in documenting the local value of outdoor recreation. The Horicon Marsh was one of just five outdoor destinations examined as part of the pilot program.

(Beaver Dam) Beaver Damโ€™s Utilities Department recently received a donation from a new business coming to Beaver Dam. During the cityโ€™s common council meeting this week, where alderpersons recognized the gift from Generac Power Systems, Director of Utilities Jeremy Klug thanked the company for donating a backup generator to power the sanitary lift station at Kellom Road. 

(Dodge County) A number of cities in Dodge County received transportation aid from the state. The governor and the department of transportation recently announced that municipalities across Wisconsin will be sharing more than $141-million-dollars. Beaver Dam is in line for $313-thousand-dollars in general transportation aid. 

(Eldorado) Fond du Lac County authorities pursued a suspect for roughly 13 miles before taking him into custody yesterday (Tuesday). A Cecil man sped past a deputy in the township of Eldorado and was pursued until a tire deflation device disabled his vehicle. The 31-year-old is facing felony charges of Fleeing and First-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety. Authorities say a patrol car and a civilian vehicle did sustain minor damage during the chase. No major injuries were reported. 

(Juneau) The Juneau Fire Department had a busy year in 2024. The department responded to 124 calls. Chief Ed Weiss says they responded to around 12 to 14 structural fires which is usually their average. He adds that mutual aid can be received by a simple phone call and is really helpful when extra tools and staff are needed.
