(Beaver Dam) There is a farewell open house scheduled later this month for Beaver Dam Mayor Becky Glewen. At the end of December, Glewen announced her pending resignation as mayor after accepting a position as the new administrator for Trempealeau County. Glewen’s last day will be February 1st. The open house is on January 24th from 5pm to 7pm at the Beaver Dam Area Community Chamber Office at 127 South Spring Street. The event is open to the entire public.

(Beaver Dam) The Dodge County Public Health will be hosting a free car seat event at the Beaver Dam Fire Station. Officials say appointments are required and there will be a limited supply of car seats that will be given away to eligible families. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, more than 11,000 lives have been saved by the use of child restraints over the last 30 years. (Fond du Lac) The teen arrested in connection to a deadly accident that involved a woman being dragged for three miles was in court for a bond hearing. Cash bond was set at $250,000 for Jatziel Encarnacion. Court officials say the 19-year-old, who was taken into custody on a felony charge of Hit and Run Causing Great Bodily Harm, requested the hearing. Taya Grimes was one of four people thrown from a vehicle that went into a ditch on Highway 45 on New Year’s Eve. The 19-year-old Grimes had been driving and was hit and dragged by another vehicle that went past the crash scene. The vehicle that hit and dragged Grimes is also suspected of hitting a second person that had been thrown into the roadway after the initial crash, a 17-year-old from Iron Ridge.

(Juneau) Those in charge of the Dodge County parks system say they are always looking to improve their offerings and facilities. Dodge County Park Superintendent Jason Roy says at the end of each camping season, a survey goes out to all campers for feedback and to learn what they liked or did not like about the park. Roy also notes that the number of campers in county parks continues to increase year over year.

(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Area Community Theatre is hosting the Fire and Ice Concert Series, presented by the Horicon Pheonix Program, this Saturday. Orlando Peña and The Midnight Purchase, along with special guest Whitney Rose, will be performing at the Kamps Auditorium. Doors will open at 6pm, Rose will take the stage from 7pm to 8pm and Orlando Peña and the Midnight Purchase will headline the event from 8:30pm to 10pm.
