(Juneau) The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is notifying the public of a sex offender that has been residing in Lomira. Sheriff’s officials say Derrick Brooks has been staying at AmeriVu Inn and Suites at 645 East Avenue. They say that Brooks has been in the community since January 8th, as he gets his CDL license, but the Wisconsin Department of Corrections did not provide this information to law enforcement until Monday, January 30th. The 52-year-old was released from a prison in New York after serving his sentence for two counts of Sexual Abuse First-Degree. He is set to return to New York on February 6th.

(Horicon) A year after a governing body that oversees the police and fire departments was dissolved in Horicon it was reinstated. Mayor Josh Maas says the Police and Fire Commission was brought back at the same meeting he was sworn-in at, following the 2022 spring elections. It was originally disbanded after a disagreement grew between the city council and the PFC over the hiring process of Horicon’s next police chief. Maas says everyone who sits on the PFC now are more than qualified. They include two members of the sheriff’s office who live in the city and former mayor Steve Neitzel.

(Dodge County) A number of cities in Dodge County received transportation aid from the state. The governor and the department of transportation announced Tuesday that municipalities across Wisconsin received more than $134-million-dollars. Beaver Dam is in line for $238-thousand-dollars. The city is also receiving over $11-thousand-dollars in Connecting Highway Aid which assist communities with costs associated with increased traffic and maintenance on roads that connect segments of the state highway system.

(Beaver Dam) Eddie Rivers will be performing once again with Asleep At The Wheel at a show in Wisconsin this spring. The Beaver Dam-native, known locally as Mark Malak, was the longest serving steel guitar player in the storied history of the Grammy Award-winning band. After years of turning down offers to join, he started touring with front man Ray Benson in the Austin, Texas-based, western swing band in 2004. Eddie Rivers retired in 2019 but performed with Asleep At The Wheel before a hometown audience in Beaver Dam last spring. The shows at the Stoughton Opera House will take place on April 13 and 14.

(Beaver Dam) This Friday is the first day to start signing up for appointments to register in four-year-old or five-year-old Kindergarten in the Beaver Dam School District. Parents registering for four-year-old Kindergarten should bring a copy of their child’s birth certificate, immunization records and proof of residency. Five-year-old Kindergarten students would only need to register if they are not currently registered in the district’s 4K program.
