Sex Offender Staying In Lomira As He Obtains CDL License

(Juneau) The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is notifying the public of a sex offender that has been residing in Lomira. Sheriff’s officials say Derrick Brooks has been staying at AmeriVu Inn and Suites at 645 East Avenue.

They say that Brooks has been in the community since January 8th but the Wisconsin Department of Corrections did not provide this information to law enforcement until Monday, January 30th. The 52-year-old was released from a State of New York prison after serving his sentence for two counts of Sexual Abuse First-Degree.

Authorities say Brooks is living in Dodge County temporarily as he completes his commercial driver’s license training. He is scheduled to return to New York next week following graduation from the CDL training program on February 6th.

The sheriff’s office say while they recognize that this was not a timely notice to law enforcement or residents, specifically in Lomira, they do still feel that it is important to notify the community for the remainder of Brooks time in Dodge County.

They note that they are not responsible for the approval of this placement. Law enforcement add that citizen abuse of this information to threaten or harass will be investigated and citations issued or arrests made if appropriate.
