(Beaver Dam) The Sons of the American Legion in Fox Lake is hosting its second annual Summer Fun Event on Saturday, August 24. The fundraiser is scheduled to take place from noon until dusk at Firemenโ€™s Park just behind the Fox Lake Fire Department. Last yearโ€™s event garnered over $4,000 for area veterans and the Fox Lake American Legion Post 521 outdoor memorial.

(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Community Library has added 12 Feelings Kits funded by a TalkReadPlay Accelerator Grant from the Greater Watertown Community Health Foundation to their Beyond Books Collection. The kits contain two to four books and activities for children to learn about and understand their feelings. (Madison) The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection is now accepting applications for Buy Local, Buy Wisconsin Grants. Those eligible to apply include individuals, groups, or businesses involved in Wisconsin production agriculture, food processing, food distribution, retail food establishments, or agricultural tour operations. The projects submitted can receive grant funding for up to three years, and grant requests must be between $5,000 dollars and $50,000 dollars. The organization will hold an informational webinar via Zoom on Tuesday August 6 to discuss creating a successful proposal, with time allotted for questions.

(Madison) The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is reminding all boaters to monitor their speed and control their wake while underway, as it can negatively affect other boaters and aquatic systems and cause shoreline erosion. Some helpful reminders include respecting no wake zones. These areas are specifically designed to protect wildlife and reduce shoreline erosion. It is also important to teach your passengers. Ensure all aboard your boat understand wake safety and the rules.

(Waupun) SSM Health Waupun Memorial Hospital will be hosting a community blood drive later this month. The drive will take place on Tuesday, August 20 from 11am to 4pm in the Marsh Conference Room. The drive is through nonprofit and independent community blood center ImpactLife and is open to the public. Appointments are encouraged and donors will get their choice of a gift card, a donation to support Make a Wish, or bonus points to the ImpactLife store. Those interested in donating can sign up online at bloodcenter dot org by using code 4055. Participants are encouraged to bring a valid form of identification and refrain from eating before donating.
