(Juneau) There is a new traffic safety coordinator in Dodge County. Joel Kiesow, who served in the position since February of 2015, announced his retirement effective January 13. The Dodge County Board this week approved appointing Scott Smith to the position. Smith retired from the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office in January of 2018 after serving 18 years in multiple positions within the department, most recently as chief deputy. Dodge County Administrator Jim Mielke says Sheriff Dale Schmidt supported Smith’s appointment to traffic safety coordinator. He adds that outside of quarterly commission meetings, Scott is anticipated to average four hours of office time per week in addition to responding to traffic safety communications. Mielke says the compensation for the position is budgeted at $4,000 annually.
