New Condos Coming To Beaver Dam

(Beaver Dam) A new residential housing district is being built in Beaver Dam. The city’s Common Council recently entered into a developers agreement with Rivers Row for construction of 24 condo units at the Ryan Cantafio’s Way site, which is currently owned by Beaver Dam.

During the Council’s most recent meeting, they approved the land purchase and sale agreement. The Downtown Redevelopment Committee also signed off on the conceptual designs. City Administrator Nathan Thiel notes one final box that still needs to be checked.

“But in general…things are moving forward…we’re excited about this property…the only other thing [left]…the t that needs to be crossed is completion of the site remediation.”

A contingency of the remediation of the property is obtaining a closure letter from the DNR. The site had been labeled a brownfields which are abandoned, idle and underused commercial or industrial properties where reuse is stalled by potential contamination.

From the 1950’s to 2004, the property was the location of an auto dealership and repair facility with hydraulic lifts and petroleum tanks. The city received a DNR grant several years ago providing contractor services for environmental assessments of eligible brownfields sites.

As part of the land purchase and sale agreement, the property was sold to Rivers Row for $1. The goal is to begin construction of all 24 condos this summer.
