(BEAVER DAM) A flat tire or loose chain no longer has to end a ride in Beaver Dam.
Three new bicycle repair stations are now up and running at Vo-Tech Park, Swan Park, and Waterworks Park, giving riders a place to handle quick fixes while theyโre out on the trail.
The stations come after a yearlong effort that brought together the city, the Beaver Dam Unified School District, local students and Eagle Scout candidate Jackson Sauer. The project was first announced in 2025 and is now complete.
Students in Beaver Dam High Schoolโs Engineering and Technology program built the stations with their instructor, Joe Kutzler, getting hands-on experience while working on something the public can use. Sauer helped install the stations, with support from local businesses that donated materials and finishing work.
Mayor Bobbi Marck said the project reflects how the community works together on practical improvements people can use every day.
โThese bike repair stations are a simple but meaningful investment in our parks and the quality of life for people here,โ she said.
Each station includes basic tools and an air pump, making it easier for cyclists to stay on the move. The station at Vo-Tech Park is also positioned to connect with the future GoldStar Trail.
City parks supervisor Joe Kern said the stations add something useful for riders while highlighting the work of students and volunteers.
School Superintendent Mark DiStefano said the project gave students a chance to apply what theyโve learned in a way that directly benefits their community.
The effort grew out of priorities in Beaver Damโs 2025 comprehensive plan, which called for expanding bike infrastructure and outdoor recreation options.
