(Wisconsin) A new Alice in Dairyland was crowned over the weekend. Sarah Hagenow of Poynette will serve as the state’s 78th Alice.
In the position, Hagenow will work for the year as a full-time communications professional for the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection. Her goal is to educate the public about the importance of agriculture in the state.
Hagenow says she cannot wait to start visiting communities all across the state and learning more about the diverse people and places that make Wisconsin the agricultural powerhouse it is.
Two local women were finalists in the competition – Allison Foster of Waupun and Michelle Stangler of Watertown.
The Dodge County-area’s most recent connection to Alice in Dairyland was in 2010. Christine Lindner of Fall River, who grew up on her family’s farm just outside of Beaver Dam, was the state’s 63rd Alice.
