Beaver Dam freshman McKenna Nelson finished tied for 3rd at the WIAA Division One State Girls Golf Tournament at University Ridge in Madison on Tuesday.
After a 1st round 73, Nelson shot a three-over par 75 on Friday to finish the event at plus four.
Nelson’s round started on the back nine with back to back bogeys on #10 and #11 before birdies on #12 and #13. She finished up her first nine with a birdie on #16 and a double bogey on #18 for a +1 37..
Nelson’ made the turn with bogeys on #1 and #3 and a double on #4, but she rallied to birdie #8 and #9 to finish her 2nd nine with a +2 38.
Nelson tied for 3rd with Vivian Cressman of Middleton at +4. Payton Haugen of Brookfield East was runner-up at +2. Waunakee’s Izzi Stricker won her 2nd straight D1 title at even par for the event.
